An Afternoon Masterclass (half day) (Registrations are now CLOSED)

This half day masterclass will offer an introduction to 3D printing using 3D Builder for the designing phase.

Participants will be provided with examples of how 3D printing can be used within schools and its application to both the Digital and Design Technologies Curriculum.

This workshop will also show how 3D printing can be used in conjunction with Micro:bit.

Objectives:
Participants will:

  • gain an understanding of the basics of 3D printing and how the printers can be used within a school context.
  • gain hands-on experience using 3D Builder software and exposure to the printing process.
  • develop a unit of work on 3D printing in relation to the Digital Technologies Curriculum.

Requirements:
Participants are expected to bring and use a computer running Windows in this masterclass as 3-D Builder, the program used for this workshop,  and which is free from the Microsoft App Store, is unfortunately not available for Apple devices.

All those who are interested in exploring 3D printing

15 tickets will be available.

Parking:
Plenty of parking is available in and around the school, including the staff car park and adjacent grass area.

About the Presenters:
Jacob French is currently a literacy and numeracy support staff member at Bunbury Primary School. He has been involved with 3D printing for 6 years, originally as a designer but now offering printing services as well. He has worked with businesses to develop product prototypes as well as making one off items for individuals. He is enthusiastic about integrating 3D printing into the education system.

Mitchell Durward is currently a Classroom Teacher at Bunbury Primary School and has had previous experience as a Digital Technologies (STEM) Specialist Teacher in Kalgoorlie. He is a presenter of the Teachers Can Code modules, with experience across both primary school and high school.
