ECAWA AGM – Proposed Changes to ECAWA Rules

As ECAWA members have been previously notified, the ECAWA Annual General Meeting will held on  Wednesday the 30th of May 2018.

On the Agenda for the meeting you will have noticed the item – Changes to the Rules of the Association.

Some changes need to be made to the ECAWA Rules to

  1. accommodate already agreed arrangements with MAWA and STAWA,
  2. accommodate the arrangements made regarding a federally funded project,
  3. accommodate the existing situation regarding retired ECAWA members,  and
  4. respond to changes flowing from the new Associations Act.

In this Special Resolution it is proposed that only part of  Section 5.1 – Qualifications for Membership, be altered at this time, as this will deal with the most urgent issues, however members need to be aware that over the coming year further changes to the Rules of the Association will need to be made, to bring ECAWA’s Rules into line with the Associations Act of 2015.

A copy of the proposed text of the Special Resolution may be download from http://bit.ly/ECAWA_Rules_Changes_2018

Appointment of a school voting representative

Rules as Passed

The ECAWA Annual General Meeting is essentially an event for the financial members of ECAWA – the Educational Computing Association Inc. Non voting members, including Student Members and additional members attached to Organisational or School Members, are welcome and are encouraged to attend the meeting.

Members are asked to arrive at the Scitech Magnesium Room on Wednesday the 30th of May, from 4.30pm, so that the ECAWA 2018 Annual General Meeting can start at 5.00pm sharp.

Members – ECAWA is your organisation. If you would like more input into decisions, initiatives and the running of the association, then a place on the committee could be for you.

To nominate yourself or another ECAWA member please complete the nomination form at the bottom of the AGM Notice, including the signatures, and email or post a copy to the Secretary, to be received at least seven full days ahead of the meeting.

It is essential that, as well as the nominator and seconder, the nominee sign the form to indicate that they are willing to accept the nomination, and that the nominee, nominator and seconder are all financial members of ECAWA at the time of the nomination and AGM.

You do not have to be present at the AGM to be elected to the committee but you do need to be available to attend meetings regularly and participate in the work of the association.

At the meeting we will be electing the members of the 2018 ECAWA Committee.

There are 15 positions up for election, including President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, LOGIN Editor, Primary Coordinator, Secondary Coordinator, Tertiary Coordinator, and seven General Committee Members.

There are also other opportunities to contribute to the association.

Please consider working as part of an ECAWA sub committee, assisting with LOGIN / LOGIN Light, assisting either the Primary or Secondary Coordinator to arrange PD/PL events or coordinating a Special Interest Group.

Will you be the voting representative of your school or organisation at the AGM?

The ECAWA Rules gives voting rights to individual members and to one representative member from each Organisational or School membership.

In order for Organisational or School members to vote we need to ascertain who that representative member is. If you are attending the Annual General Meeting and will be voting on behalf of your school or organisation, please ensure the appropriate form Appointment of a school voting representative  is completed and signed, and return it to the Secretary before the beginning of the AGM.

Non voting members, including Student Members and additional members attached to Organisational or School Members, are welcome and are encouraged to attend the meeting.

Will you be there?

We need to ensure that there is sufficient seating and catering available for members, so it is essential that all those intending to be present please complete the  response form to indicate if you will be attending the Annual General Meeting. The response form also gives you the opportunity to record your apology for the minutes, if you are unable to attend.
