App Development with Xcode

Xcode is an integrated development environment for macOS containing a suite of tools developed by Apple for developing software for macOS, iOS, watchOS and tvOS.
This workshop will focus on the basic development of a single view application using Xcode.
Participants will be shown how to navigate the Xcode interface, import assets, add buttons and images and use Swift code to create a basic app that will look great on any iOS device.
If you have been working with block coding, scripting, Python or some other language you will find this the next step in your coding/development journey.
Intended Audience:
All those interested in STEM, Middle School, Lower Secondary (7 – 10), Senior Secondary (11 – 12)
Requirements:
Participants will need a Mac with MacOS 10.12 and Xcode 8.2 or greater.
About the Presenter:
David Brown is the Education Technology Integrator at St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School and is passionate about using technology to enhance student learning.
David teaches Mechatronics and App development which allows him to pursue and share interests in coding, robotics and using cool things like Arduinos, Mindstorms and LittleBits.
In teaching App development, David has become familiar with the Xcode environment and the Swift programming language. He is working with other teachers from around the world to develop resources that will help in project based learning.
As the Education technology Integrator, David helps develop technology skills for teachers and school leaders from Years 5-12, assisting in a classroom applying pre-planned programmes along with the classroom teacher, providing PL one-on-one or in groups, and keeping ahead of the trends in technology and learning.
