Code for Schools Virtual Teacher Training

CS in Schools is an Australian charity focused on providing free professional development and resources for Digitech teachers, with a focus on underserved and low socio-economic schools. To date, more than 150,000 students have completed one of the 8+ week teacher-led courses in the classroom.
In collaboration with industry, they are launching a new virtual teacher training program to help scale our resources & support.
While the online teacher training program will officially launch during Term 1 2025 ECAWA members have been invited to try out the new virtual teacher training program now or during the coming break.
This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to brush up old skills, acquire some new skills and be aware of new resources that can be offered to colleagues in the coming school year.
It may also be a very valuable resource for anyone teaching in the digital technologies area for the first time.
The course includes 7 modules, each made up of engaging videos, quizzes and coding tasks. The course is entirely self paced and they recommend allowing 4 hours in total to complete it. They say that most teachers complete the course in 2-3 weeks, spending about 1-2 hours per week, but it can be done in an afternoon if you’re keen!
