A Lecture / Discussion

This workshop will share Donna’s journey from Mathematics to VET Cyber Teacher because of the question she was asked in 2018.

Donna will share practical classroom activities, programs and assessments used in her Year 11 and 12 VET Cert II Cybersecurity course.

The workshop will also include a presentation from Tim Edwards from LifeJourney on the Cyber Teacher and CyberEXP program for teachers and students.

The workshop will conclude with a short interview with Paola Cerrato-D’Amico and Ashleigh Priblovic from the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) on Ashleigh’s journey from growing up in Perth to working in cyber security at ASD.

About the Presenter:

Donna Buckley is a level three teacher, Assistant Head of Mathematics and VET Cybersecurity teacher. She coordinates Maths Talent Quest for the Mathematical Association of WA , an activity that encourages students to apply mathematical and statistical thinking processes to solve problems.

Passionate about connecting industry needs to students, Donna advocates for the teaching of Data Science and Programming in schools.

Donna is a volunteer at the Perth Girls Programming Network and has presented on mathematics, cybersecurity, data science, programming and cryptography in STEM Conferences across Australia.
