Dr David Cook

President and ACCE Board Member for WA

Dr David Cook is a lecturer and researcher in the School of Science at Edith Cowan University, specialising in cybersecurity, e-governance, and human-computer interaction. As a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society and a mentor to award-winning student projects like “Water Twins,” he exemplifies leadership in fostering innovation and digital inclusion in education

Courtney Weaver

Vice President

Courtney Weaver is a Digital Technologies and Music teacher with a rich background in IT consultancy, having spent 15 years as a developer, project manager, and business analyst before transitioning into education. She is dedicated to enhancing digital literacy and supporting educators through professional learning initiatives

Michelle Chomiak

Secretary

Michelle Chomiak is a Digital Technologies and Computer Science educator at an Independent K-12 school in Perth, with over 15 years of prior experience in the IT industry as a programmer and project manager. A passionate advocate for girls in STEM, she mentors with the Girls Programming Network, and was named the 2024 Australian Secondary School Teacher of the Year (Non-Government).

Tanya Godwich

Treasurer

Tanya Godwich is a Digital Technologies and AIT educator with the Department of Education at a Secondary College in Perth. She brings a strong commitment to advancing digital literacy and supporting innovative teaching practices across Western Australian schools.

Rachel Farnay

Secondary Coordinator

Rachel Farnay is Teacher in Charge – ICT and Approved Specialist Program at a Department of Education secondary college in Perth, where she teaches Digital Technologies, AIT and Design. She is a Level 3 Classroom Teacher, whose students have won competitions for their innovative use of STEM. She is the founder of the College’s recycling and intergenerational programs, and has just completed a Master of Education in Curriculum and Assessment at University of New South Wales, where her research focused on educational technology.

Dr Valerie Maxville

Tertiary Coordinator

Dr Valerie Maxville is a passionate advocate for equitable and inclusive STEM education, with a strong background in community engagement and digital inclusion. Based at Curtin University, she brings expertise in technology for social good and a commitment to empowering underrepresented groups through education and innovation.

Yvonne Harrison

Marketing & Socials

Yvonne Harrison is a Level Three Teacher within the Department of Education, teaching Primary-aged students. Recognised as the 2018 ACCE/ACS Leader of the Year, she is known for her leadership in integrating innovative technologies such as games-based learning and immersive platforms like Minecraft into education, and for her active participation in global professional learning networks.

Michael King

Michael King

Immediate Past President

Michael King is the Dean of Academic Services at a Catholic Secondary College in Perth, where he teaches Digital Technologies and AIT, and fosters student engagement in computing and innovation. During his time as President, he has championed professional learning and digital leadership across the education sector.

Karina Price

Committee Member

Karina Price is a Science Communicator and the current Outreach and Engagement Coordinator for Computing and Security sciences at Edith Cowan University (ECU). She leads innovative outreach initiatives that inspire students to explore skills and careers in computer science, cyber security and security sciences. With a background in molecular biology and a long career in science communication, she was also the founder of the award-winning Virtual Plant Cell, which used immersive technologies to make complex cell science accessible and engaging for diverse audiences.

Zina Cordery

Committee Member

Zina Cordery is a Lecturer in the School of Education at Edith Cowan University, where she coordinates the Digital Technologies specialisation for secondary education and researches the integration of immersive technologies like VR and AR in teaching and learning. An active member of the editorial board of the Australian Educational Computing Journal, she is also pursuing a PhD focused on the use of virtual reality in education.
