Last Minute Reminders – #ECAWA2015

The ECAWA 2015 State Conference begins tomorrow, Thursday the 16th of April, and we are looking forward to a very full and exciting two days at Scotch College.

If you need information about the Conference and you can’t find it on the website, please call Lynley on 0411 241 261 or send atext message or email conference@ecawa.wa.du.au or secretary@ecawa.wa.edu.au

None of us will be at our desks over the next day or so, but we’ll be ‘connected’.

There are still places available at the Conference, and there is even a special prize draw that people completing  ’late registrations’ go into, thanks to Stanley Lui of Little Sun! (Make sure you have a look at the Little Sun display on Thursday or Friday!)

Some last minute reminders:

Information about the programme and presentations is on the Conference website along with a timetable for each day at http://bit.ly/ECAWA2015ProgrammeGrids

Please print a copy of your selections (to a PDF?) before you “Submit”.

The information you provide will assist the Conference team with their final arrangements, including ensuring that that adequate seating and appropriate catering is available.

As usual, this is a BYO device event, and you are encouraged to bring your own wireless enabled computer, notebook, laptop, Macbook, tablet, iPad, or similar to use on the network.

You will not be able to download software or other larger files over the Scotch College network, so please ensure that any apps, software or other files you may wish to use at the conference have been installed on your device before you arrive.

If you are using a school owned notebook computer, please ensure that you have administration ‘rights’ to be able to connect to the Conference network.

Please also ensure that your notebook computer and any other equipment that you are bringing to the Conference, as well as any power packs, cables, etc are all labeled with your name and a contact telephone number, so that they can be returned to you quickly if they are misplaced.

A couple of conference presenters have suggested software that you may wish to use in their workshop and have indicated if this may be downloaded from a particular website in advance of the Conference. Again, you will not be able to download large files over the wireless network, so please download and install everything you will need before you arrive.

Michael Graffin will be considering:

  • Free apps – Dropbox, Adobe Voice, DoodleBuddy
  • Paid apps –  (purchase those you’re interested in)?iMovie ($4/99), Explain Everything ($2.99), Puppet Pals HD Director’s Pass ($6.49), Book Creator ($4.99)

Tim Kitchen offers information about the wide range of apps and software he will be using, on the page about each particular presentation, so if you have selected Tim’s presentations check the relevant pages and make sure you download everything you will need before you get to Scotch College.

Parking: Please be sure to study the parking information. The document has been prepared by our hosts at Scotch College to help you park in the areas allocated to the conference and to find the Middle School building we will be using as easily as possible. They have even included some photographs of the school from the Stirling Road entrance so you will know what it looks like!

The Scotch College campus is very large and is spread over a number of streets, so please prepare in advance and perhaps keep a copy of the information on your ‘phone or tablet.

See you at Scotch College on Thursday!
