2014 Professional Learning Opportunities

Although the ECAWA 2014 State Conference is over, there are still a number of excellent professional learning opportunities available to ECAWA members throughout 2014.

We try to keep the information below accurate and up to date, however please remember that last minute reminders and updates to parking, venue and room information, additions to programmes, etc, are posted on the ECAWA blog and tweeted via the ECAWA Secretary twitter account, so you will find it useful to subscribe to these.

Term 4

October Professional Learning Day on Saturday the 25th of October at Wesley College

A full day of professional learning and professional development opportunities is available on Saturday the 25th of October at Wesley College in South Perth.

The day will begin at 8.45am with a Teach Meet Breakfast, led by Bhavneet Singh and the Teach Meet team, followed by major presentations, concurrent presentations and workshops.

Presenters will include Vic Gecas, Kim Flintoff, Paul Newhouse, Jenny Lane, Simon Hudson, Michael Graffin and others.

We have made every effort to keep the cost of attendance as low as we can, and ask that where possible, you make your payment via PayPal, as this helps us to keep administration costs to a minimum.

Members: $66.00 (inc GST)

Non Members: $147.50 (inc GST)

School members: Register your staff members at the Member rate.

Lunch will be provided in individually packed boxes and participants will be able to make their menu selections after completing the registration process – and in the week before the event. Term 3

ICT with Year 7s – presented by Rob Dodds

On Tuesday the 19th of August Mr Rob Dodds, Middle School Teacher at Wesley College will present “ICT with Year 7s”.

Rob has had number of years’ experience teaching in the middle years area both in WA and in the UK, and has successfully integrated IT into curriculum areas for the benefit of students.

The focus of this presentation will be on integration of an IT curriculum into Year 7 programmes and will discuss a range of strategies that Rob uses in his classroom each day.  There will be a discussion on pedagogy and an open forum for discussion.
