We invite you to join us at the ECAWA 2008 State Conference for two days of exciting professional learning and professional development opportunities, networking and sharing of information about ICT in education in a relaxed and friendly environment at Canning College.The programme will incorporate a number of keynote addresses as well as concurrent presentations. While a significant part of the programme will explore some of the opportunities that Web2+ technologies offer educators and students, there will be plenty more as well.

Aidan McCarthy was Microsoft’s WW Strategy Director for K-12 and has returned top enjoy the Perth lifestyle and work as IT Director at Scotch College. He was based at Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, USA driving Teaching and Learning technologies and programs with 1:1 as a key focus in schools. Aidan worked closely with product teams, solutions development and with companies specialising in education products and services.
Aidan has assisted in creating education policy directions for Governments and Ministries of Education. He is a recognised speaker and well known for the work he had done in helping schools and teachers effectively integrate Learning technologies into the curriculum.

Sue is an enthusiastic teacher of e-learning and a great blogger. Sue provides a range of useful and practical e-learning “how-tos”. See Sue’s wikispace, her mobile technology blog and her tips, tricks and help with using Web 2.0 on the Edublogger site. This intro “Online social networks for professional development” will give us a brief overview of the ways educators can use use online tools to forge professional networks related to our areas of interest. Sue will help us separate tweets from blogs, wikis from wookies, Skypes from Gtalks and uStreams from Lifestreams.
