Technologies, specifically games, are powerful tools for engaging, motivating and building social and emotional learning (SEL) outcomes for students. This session will delve into how technology can empower students to set their own learning pathways and the real- world skill transfer that leads to improvements across self-regulation and educational outcomes.

Applying CASEL’s Framework for SEL, we demonstrate that it is indeed possible for gaming to develop cognitive skills that help to future-proof students’ employability while having significant emotional and social benefits. We draw on real world examples to illustrate how gaming has the often untapped potential to positively impact wellbeing.
