Presented by

Michelle Pestel
Primary ICT and Numeracy Co-ordinator,Peter Moyes Anglican Community School

Michelle’s introduction will outline what ‘Blended, student led-learning’ is and can look like in the classroom. She has a student ‘ICT toolbox’ of the best websites/ applications suitable for both Apple/Windows, and can share with you her experience with 1:1, simultaneously creating transparency with parents by using Digital Platforms for communication and student submissions.

Michelle will outline ideas for creatively integrating the Digital Technologies curriculum (PK-8) into all learning areas (STEM) as well as suggest a scope and sequence for apps and robots.

Michelle’s aim is to create an opportunity for open discussion and sharing of ideas, experiences and opinions as we all seek to deliver the requests of the same WA curriculum.

Intended Audience

Those interested in STEM, General Primary, Junior Primary, Middle / Upper Primary, Middle Secondary (Years 7 – 10)

About the Presenter:

Michelle has been a teacher for 16 years, mainly in Upper Primary, teaching in the Independent and Catholic school sectors.

She has always had a passion for the creative and meaningful integration of technology into all learning areas. Rather than be a specialist teacher of STEM or DT, her part-time role as Primary ICT and Numeracy co-ordinator is to train and support class and specialist teachers (PK-6) with the skills and ideas for integrating ICT and Digital Technologies in their own classes.

Michelle explores, chooses, purchases, deploys and manages the devices, infrastructure, apps, subscriptions, Digital Portfolios, and LMS platforms suitable for use in the Primary School. Complimentary to this, and as equally important, she supports the greater pedagogical evolution towards a balance of student-led, inquiry-based learning in a 1:1 or shared device setting.

Join Michelle Pestel at the ECAWA 2017 State Conference at ECU Mount Lawley.
